To Download and install:
- Make sure you have one or more of the following Avid products on Windows:
| Media Composer | any version |
| Media Composer Meridien | v8 or greater |
| Symphony | any version |
| Xpress Pro | any version |
| Xpress DV | any version |
| Xpress | v2 or greater |
| Newscutter | v3 or greater |
| DS or DS Nitris | v4 or greater (use Sapphire 1 for DS 4-7) |
- Quit your Avid software if it is running.
If you have an older version of Sapphire 2 you do not
need to un-install it. The new installation will just replace it
without removing any existing serial number.
-
Download and run the appropriate installer for your Avid product.
For Avid products except DS:
Install v2.052 for Avid products
(11 Mb)
If you require Sapphire version 1 for compatibility with old sequences:
Install v1.35 for Avid products
(5 Mb)
For DS:
Install v2.052 for DS 8 on Windows 64
(11 Mb)
Install v2.052 for DS 8 on Windows 32
(13 Mb)
Install v1.35 for DS 6 or 7 (10 Mb)
Install v1.32 for DS 4 or 5 (10 Mb)
-
Either run the program from its current location, or save it to disk
and then execute it from wherever you saved it. (Do not unzip the
installer file.) Follow the instructions given by the installer.
Sapphire 2 includes both AVX1 and AVX2
versions of the plug-ins, and the installer should default the
appropriate selection depending on which AVX versions
your Avid product supports. If you plan to conform your work to an
Avid product such as DS that does not support AVX2, be
sure to check the AVX1 version.
When you restart your Avid software, the new version 2 plug-ins should
appear in the Effect Palette in the Sapphire2 categories. On
DS, you should find the new effect presets in the
DS Presets/Sapphire2 folders. You can simply use these
effects just as you would any other effect.
For on-line help installed locally on your workstation, go to:
Start -> Programs -> GenArts Sapphire2 AVX ->
Online Help. A "Help" dialog is also provided when using a
plug-in, which gives information about that plug-in currently being
used. On Avid AVX1 products, click on the small
rectangular icon to the left of the effect name in the Effect Editor.
What's new on Windows since 2.03:
- In 2.051, a problem with S2_Grid on Windows is fixed.
- In 2.05, non-transition AVX2 effects can no longer be applied as
transitions, which previously caused errors. Also an issue with errors
occurring when applying AVX2 transitions is fixed.
- In 2.042, an issue with multiple ethernet cards in DS is fixed,
and an issue where parameters behave incorrectly when opening bins
saved with old versions is fixed.
- In 2.041, an issue when running Avid as different users is
resolved, and a problem with FilmEffect's Field option is fixed.
- In 2.04, the 32bit version of DS 8 on Windows 64 is supported,
and an issue with sudden exits on certain Windows systems is fixed.
