To Download and install:

  1. Make sure you have one or more of the following Avid products on Windows:
    Media Composer   any version
Media Composer Meridien  v8 or greater
    Symphony any version
    Xpress Pro any version
    Xpress DV any version
    Xpress v2 or greater
    Newscutter v3 or greater
DS or DS Nitris v8.x, or 10.2.1 or greater (please update your DS if you have 10.2)

  2. Quit your Avid software if it is running. If you have an older version of Sapphire 3 you do not need to un-install it. The new installation will just replace it without removing any existing serial number.

  3. Download and run the v3 installer:
Download Sapphire 3.02 for Avid products on Windows 32 or 64 (14 Mb)

Either run the program from its current location, or save it to disk and then execute it from wherever you saved it. Follow the instructions given by the installer.

If you require previous Sapphire versions for compatibility with old sequences:
Download v2.081 for Avid products on Windows 32 (9 Mb)
Download v2.081 for DS on Windows 64 (10 Mb)
    Download v1.35 for DS 6 or 7 (10 Mb)
    Download v1.32 for DS 4 or 5 (10 Mb)

Sapphire 3 includes both AVX1 and AVX2 versions of the plug-ins, and the installer should default the appropriate selection depending on which AVX versions your Avid product supports. If you plan to conform your work to an Avid product such as DS v8.x that does not support AVX2, be sure to check the AVX1 version.

When you restart your Avid software, the new version 3 plug-ins should appear in the Effect Palette in the Sapphire3 categories. On DS, you should find the new effect presets in the DS Presets/Sapphire3 folders. You can simply use these effects just as you would any other effect.

For on-line help installed locally on your workstation, go to: Start -> Programs -> GenArts Sapphire3 AVX -> Online Help. A "Help" dialog is also provided when using a plug-in, which gives information about that plug-in currently being used. If using the AVX1 version, click on the small rectangular icon to the left of the effect name in the Effect Editor.
