Why has GenArts decided to offer license rentals?
GenArts Sapphire is the leading specialized visual effects software in the world and is used by the best artists and editors in the world as they tell today’s most compelling stories. This rental option will allow access by a much broader range of Adobe After Effects and Apple Final Cut Pro users who are keen to use Sapphire Plug-ins, but simply could not afford them before.
What are the terms of the rental program?
The rental program is for the full suite of GenArts Sapphire only. The minimum rental period is one month. You may pre-pay as many rental months as you wish. Rentals do NOT automatically renew; when your rental license period expires, simply come to www.genarts.com to renew. Rental transaction payments are accepted only via credit card.
When does my rental license begin?
Rentals begin at the time of purchase.
Is my monthly rental based on a calendar month or 31 days?
The expiration date is based on the longer of:
- 30 days from the date or purchase
- The same calendar day of next month
The end date is then rounded to the next Wednesday to ensure that no license expire on a non-business day.
Can I "rent to own"?
Customers who are within 6 months of their last rental can apply up to two months rental fees toward the purchase of the full suite of Sapphire for After Effects or Final Cut Pro. The amount applied toward purchase is dependent upon the number of months you have rented.
Is the free trial still available?
Yes, you may use the software for two weeks with a trial license. You may initiate your first rental after the two-week trial has expired, but please remember that as always, you can only use the free trial of Sapphire once on any given machine. After that trial has expired, you must have a valid purchase or rental license to use Sapphire.
Why can’t I rent individual Sapphire boxes?
As of today, we will no longer offer individual boxes of Sapphire for After Effects of Final Cut Pro. The feedback that we’ve received from our customers indicates that they prefer the rental option to the lower-priced boxes because they get access to the entire suite, yet they also get the flexibility of only having to pay for Sapphire when they need it. Also, much of the flexibility and beauty of Sapphire comes from mixing and stacking effects from different boxes to achieve a unique look.
Help - my rental expired and I need to renew it!
Extending your Sapphire rental is easy. All you need to do is come back to www.genarts.com and rent again just as you did the first time. Enter the serial number from your previous rental to ensure that your rental period is extended, rather than starting a new rental from scratch.
How do I switch my license to another machine?
It is possible to transfer your serial number to a different machine. To do this, first uninstall Sapphire Plug-ins from your machine. During the uninstall, select the option to register that uninstall via the web. As long as the uninstall is successfully registered, you should then be able to install your serial number on the new machine. See our support page for more information at www.genarts.com/support.
Can I use this license on my laptop and desktop at the same time?
No, but you can move the license from machine to machine. To do this, first uninstall Sapphire Plug-ins from your machine. During the uninstall, select the option to register that uninstall via the web. As long as the uninstall is successfully registered, you should then be able to install your serial number on the new machine.
How will I know when my license is expiring?
The Help button in the plug-in displays your current license status and expiration date, if any. You will also get a popup warning you a few days before expiration, with a link to purchase a rental extension.
Can I use this license on both After Effects and Final Cut Pro?
Yes, provided both applications reside on the same machine. You will need to make sure you have downloaded both the After Effects and Final Cut versions of Sapphire. The same license key will work with both versions of Sapphire. You will find the installers for both versions on our download page here: www.genarts.com/download/updates
I only need the software for two weeks, can I rent it by the week?
No. The minimum rental period is one month.
Do you rent by the month for other hosts?
We offer Sapphire and Monsters for rent on additional host platforms on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in renting for an additional platform, please contact us at sales@genarts.com.
I changed my mind, can I get my money back?
No. Unfortunately, refunds are not provided in connection with Sapphire rentals.
Can you invoice me instead?
No. All rental transactions must be processed via credit card.
